Education and Coaching History
In September 2011 I was appointed Head of the Vocal Department at Tech Music School in London www.techmusicschool.co.uk.
I studied piano from the age of 5, and at the age of 11 was accepted onto a scholarship into the junior exhibitioner scheme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, which allowed me to broaden my musical education during my secondary school education. I was also studying voice and drama at the then Toynbee School.
I reached LGSM performers level by the age of 16. I was studying for my first concerto when I decided that I didn’t have the physical capability to be the pianist I wanted to be. I also loved pop music and had been songwriting since the age of 14. I decided to get a job!
As noted previously I began in West End musicals, during which time I also studied jazz dance with Arlene Phillips.
I had an opportunity to teach young adult learners vocal and recording techniques at Islington Music workshop, and then at Music Works in Brixton and Vauxhall. I also coached at an East London Drama School.
I began private teaching in 1993. I hold a PGCE in Contemporary Music. For the last 5 years I’ve enjoyed working at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford where I taught vocals, sight reading, aural skills and theory to degree, higher diploma and BTEC students.
